The People Assemble!

On March 2, 2024, I took my students to the Poor People & Low Wages Assemble at the Church of the Epiphany. I believe as a teacher that we should take our students to protests to see the 1st amendment in action. This is an issue that our community has been struggling with. To see civic leaders from varies organization to come in one space to vocalize their outage lit a spark in my students. DC’s minimum wage ($17/hr) doesn’t cover the cost of living. You need to make around $35/hr to live comfortable. The government can send billions of dollar for foreign aid but those same billions can solve most of the problem in America. Those in power choose who they want to save. It’s time to vote these people out and elect officials that will work eliminate poverty
