My Students Had An Awesome Time At The Con
On March 8-9, 2024 I took my students to this year's Awesome Con at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. I always like taking my students to conventions because majority of them are giant nerds. It is a great way for me to bond with them as their teacher and we get some amazing content for our high school journalism website. I love seeing their expression when they see the amazing cosplays, meet some extraordinary authors, artists, and network with professional photographers. I did get a sense that it was a little overwhelming for a few of my students, but I learned a lot about them through this experience. As I've said on my social media, I encourage schools to bring their scholars to a convention. Especially, if they are in the fine arts. After having conversations with other convention owners, such as Blerd Con and HBCU Con who want to put our students in those spaces. my students loved it so much I'm pretty sure they want to go again next year. The good news is that also come will be happening in April 2025. We'll see you then.
