202 For Peace Marches Again

On July 24, 2024, Friendship Collegiate Academy staff and scholars walked in the streets Minnesota Ave to advocate for peace. Although homicides has gone down in the District, FCA has dealt with gun violence on Minnesota Ave at least twice this summer during Summer Enrichment hours with one incident causing an early release last week. Speaking with a few scholars, they want more than marches. They want to take a step further to make sure their community is safe to live and work. It’s good to see our students getting involved in activism. We need to get them in the city Council chambers, and have conversations with our city leaders to ensure their bright future.
