The 60th Anniversary of the March On Washington: More Than A Celebration
August 26, 2023 marks the 60th Anniversary of the March On Washington where civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous I Had A Dream speech in 1963. In retrospective, how much of his dream have been achieved? We made some progress and suffered major setbacks. I guess that’s why many of the signs you see below echo similar message from the original march. I don’t like to think that we’re back at square one but when I see numerous politicians pushing laws that discriminates against the LGBTQ, working to ban America’s true history, resisting police reform on the federal level, limiting diversity, expanding the wealth gap…. Well, do you see where I’m coming from? In 60 years, we carry the same signs but with better graphics. My hope, my dream is that we can disrupt the system and make good trouble that allows us to truly celebrate this historical event and not relive it.
